Improved Information Flow with Digital Screens
Malmö University has successfully enhanced its internal communication through the implementation of digital screens. With the structured screen solution, the university has streamlined information sharing and improved the student experience.
Results:
- Improved information flow
- Quick and efficient content publishing
- Better student experience
Challenges of effective information sharing
• Manual operations
• Communication gaps
• Complex requirements for information dissemination
The demand for digital screens emerged as students sought information within the university premises. Initially, TV equipment linked to computers displaying PowerPoint presentations was used. This approach was cumbersome, requiring significant manual intervention.
The university faced the formidable task of effectively disseminating crucial information to its students, particularly in bustling areas frequently traversed by students. Spanning numerous buildings housing a variety of institutions and spaces for assorted purposes, the university needed a system to selectively target specific information to distinct areas across the campus.
The solution: implementation of digital screens
• Implementation of PLAYipp
• Organised screen management
• Grouping screens for targeted content
In 2018, the university implemented the PLAYipp platform to display information on digital screens, starting with exam schedules. The platform’s favourable reception quickly led to broader application.
Using PLAYipp’s screen structure system, the screens were systematically organised by the university’s buildings’ official names, establishing a logical and instructive framework. Additionally, screen groups were formed to enable swift distribution of varied information either campus-wide or to specific buildings.
To grant appropriate access levels for publishing on different screens, distinct user groups were established based on their required access rights. This approach simplified the authorization process, allowing individuals to be assigned to pre-defined user groups, automatically conferring the necessary permissions.
Efficient information flows and increased student satisfaction
Malmö university has successfully deployed over 50 digital screens across its campuses. This technological solution has not only enhanced student communication but also streamlined the university’s internal information flow. The strategic and instructional screen setup has simplified content publication for staff, subsequently enriching the students’ experience.
“PLAYipp has enabled us at Malmö university to efficiently deliver both general and location-specific communication, enhancing the information flow and thereby enriching the students’ experience through this new medium. It transcends mere technology, focusing on effectively connecting with our students.”
