Frequently asked questions about the Content API & digital signage

What is PLAYipp Content API?

Our Content API is a tool that lets you manage and publish content to your digital screens programmatically. Instead of logging in manually, you can automate uploading images, videos and scheduling directly from your own systems.

Who is the Content API for?

The Content API is perfect for you as a communicator who wants to automate publishing of news and campaigns, or IT teams that need to integrate digital signage with other systems. It’s also ideal for developers who want to build their own content management tools.

Do I need to know how to code to use the Content API?

It helps if you or someone on your team has technical knowledge, but you don’t need to be an expert. We use GraphQL as an interface, which makes it easier to get started. If you have questions along the way, our support is happy to help.

How do I get started with the Content API?

Contact our support and we’ll activate the API on your account. Then you’ll receive an API key that you use to connect your systems to PLAYipp. We have technical documentation that guides you through the entire process.

Can I manage multiple screens at once?

Yes, our Content API works whether you have a few screens or hundreds of locations. You can publish and update content to all your screens from the same system.

What is digital signage?

Digital signage is digital screens that display information, news, campaigns or other communication with the help of a software. Instead of paper and notice boards, you use screens that you can easily update remotely.

What’s the difference between our Content API and our Monitoring API?

Content API helps you manage and publish content to your screens. Monitoring API helps you monitor the status of your players and detect if something is offline. Both APIs can be used together for complete control.
