At PLAYipp, security is a core principle, not an afterthought. From how data flows between your systems and your screens, to how we manage updates and connections, every part of the platform is designed to protect your network and keep your screens running reliably.

How it works: a smarter sync

PLAYipp is built on a pull-based architecture. Media players never receive data pushed to them. Instead, they connect securely to our cloud platform and fetch the content they need. No push services. No unnecessary risk. All communication is encrypted using HTTPS.

Internal data stays internal

Need to show sales figures, production data, or other sensitive internal information on your screens? Only the internal URL is stored in PLAYipp Cloud, not the data itself. The media player, located behind your firewall, connects directly to your internal server. Your data never passes through our platform.

Reliable, even when offline

If your internet connection drops temporarily, your screens keep running. The media player continues to display the most recently downloaded content. No black screens. No error messages. System monitoring and alerts are handled via the PLAYipp admin interface and email notifications.

Security built in from the ground up

Our media player is hardened for security

PLAYport, our external media player, runs on a security-hardened version of Android OS, meaning it is stripped of all unnecessary services to reduce the attack surface. Updates are managed centrally by PLAYipp. All communication runs over encrypted HTTPS only.

Data center in Sweden

Our cloud infrastructure is hosted in Sweden. Encrypted backups run every 30 minutes using LUKS full disk encryption. If servers are temporarily unreachable, your screens continue to display stored content.

Two-factor authentication

Add an extra layer of access security by requiring both a password and external authentication via an app or security key. Read more about two-factor authentication.
