How it works: a smarter sync

PLAYipp is built on a simple but powerful idea: Media players never receive data, they fetch it themselves.

This means all PLAYipp-supported screens connect securely to our cloud platform and request the content they need. No push services, no unnecessary risk. All communication is encrypted using HTTPS.

Internal URLs stay internal

Need to show sales, production, or other sensitive internal data? We’ve got you covered.

Only the internal URL is stored in PLAYipp Cloud—not the data.
The media player, behind your firewall, connects directly to your internal server, ensuring full data privacy.

Step-by-step flow:

  • URL is published via PLAYipp Manager
  • URL is stored (not the data)
  • Media player uses its web browser to surf to the URL itself
  • Screen displays your live info—safely and securely

Seamless integrations

Reliable, even when offline

If your Internet connection goes down temporarily, don’t worry. The media player continues to display the most recently downloaded content—no black screens, no error messages. System monitoring and alerts are managed via the PLAYipp admin interface and email notifications.

Our media player is hardened for security

PLAYport (our external media player based on Android OS) is hardened for security. All unnecessary services are removed. Software updates managed centrally by PLAYipp and communication only over encrypted HTTPS protocol.

Data center in Sweden

Our cloud infrastructure is based in Sweden. Encrypted backups are done every 30 minutes (LUKS full disk encryption) and if servers are temporarily unreachable, screens still display stored content.

Two-factor authentication

Enhance security by requiring both a password and external authentication, using an app or security key. Read more here: Two-Factor Authentication
