The original PLAYipper: Magnus reflects on 18 years with PLAYipp
INSPIRATION

Being employee number one is something truly special. Magnus started his journey with PLAYipp even before the company was called PLAYipp. And now, 18 years later, of course he’s still here. With a smile, he shares everything from the wild “High Chaparral” early days to today’s more structured routines.
First day? A computer, a desk, and a vision
When Magnus looks back on his first day, he doesn’t remember every detail, but he clearly recalls the place: Folkets Hus in Gävle. It was just him and Rickard then, and their mission was to create ads for the screen in the town square.
“It was pretty quiet that first day. I got a computer to sit at. But then things quickly picked up,” he says.
Initially, it was all about creating short commercials, but soon clients started asking for more—print materials, websites, photography, and video. The company was then called Precisallt Media AB, and it truly lived up to its name.
From ad agency to digital signage and our own platform
Before long, the business shifted toward digital signage. The existing systems were limited, so the team started exploring other options. Eventually, they built their own platform—the foundation of what PLAYipp is today.
“I helped design the interface in the beginning. At the same time, I was still making websites, print materials, and working directly with customers. It was a really varied job,” Magnus says.
Over the years, he’s taken on different roles in design, from UI to content creation and back to UI again.
“There’s always been something new happening. I think that’s why I’ve stayed so long. It’s never been boring.”

From two to almost 60 people
A lot has changed in 18 years. When Magnus started, there were just two people. Now, PLAYipp has nearly 60 employees and 4,000 customers.
“The biggest change has probably been the focus. We went from doing a bit of everything to going all-in on digital signage. That changed everything. It’s been cool to be part of the journey, from High Chaparral to a more structured setup. But it’s always been fun to go to work!”
Highlights? Summer parties and the software
When we ask about highlights, Magnus laughs.
“Tough question! But the summer parties definitely stand out. Furuvik was really fun, especially when families got to come along and we had access to the whole park. That kind of thing really builds team spirit.”
But when it comes to work, he’s clear about what he’s most proud of:
“Being part of building our platform, our manager. It’s really strong on the market today, both in design and functionality, and that feels great.”
Advice for newcomers at PLAYipp?
What would Magnus say to someone just starting out?
“Don’t be afraid to ask for help or make mistakes. Everyone here wants to help!”
And the future?
If he could dream ten years ahead, he hopes PLAYipp continues to be a market leader and that he’s still doing what he loves most: design.
“As long as it’s fun and you enjoy it, there’s no reason to stop, I think!”
