What is the difference between the different media players?

The biggest difference between PLAYipp’s four models of media players are the type of formats they support. All of them can handle QUICKnotes, html/web material and images, while only the PLAYbox supports touch solutions. Base your choice of media player on the type of material you want to publish. What do I need to get started?

The only things you need is a screen + one of PLAYipp’s media players. You plug the media player into the screen’s HDMI port and connect it to a network through WiFi or Ethernet. With PLAYipp you always get a free amount of user accounts to the cloud-based service PLAYipp Manager, where you publish and manage your screen messages.

Can I use a screen I already have?

Yes. PLAYipp’s media players can be used with any type of screen.

How many screens can I update at the same time?

PLAYipp is fully scalable and can be used on an unlimited number of screens. You connect a media player to each screen and in PLAYipp Manager you can choose if you want to update all, some or a single screen with the message you are just about to publish.

What size do the screen need to be?

PLAYipp can be used on all types of screens in any size. Our tip is to base the size for the screen upon how it should be used. Smaller screens are for example often suitable outside of conference rooms, while information that should be able to read from a distance requires a larger screen.

What kind of support do PLAYipp offer?

All PLAYipp users have free support.

In addition to a web-based help center with manuals, guidance, FAQ’s, and tips free personal support is also available directly through the PLAYipp Manager interface, via e-mail or over the phone.

Mobile View

What kind of smartphones can be used?

Mobile View is available for the iPhone and Android. The app can be downloaded for free from App Store and Google Play.

Can I design the app to resemble our company profile?

Yes. Mobile View can easily be designed according to your company profile. Upload your logo and set profile + accent color. You can also design your publishing templates and use the company’s various fonts.

How do I add a new recipient?

Through PLAYipp Manager you add recipients to your Mobile View by entering the recipients name and email address and/or mobile number. Then you can set which groups the recipient should belong to. The recipient can only see the messages that are sent to the groups that he or she belongs to.

Upon being added to your Mobile View the recipient obtains an activation code through e-mail or SMS. The activation code is used to connect to your Mobile View.

Is it possible to comment and like messages?

Yes. It is possible to activate Likes and Comments to Mobile View. Do you want to get even more nuanced feedback, you can also activate Unlike.

What kind of formats can be used as messages?

You can either publish messages through your QUICKnote templates or upload images, documents (such as PDF, Word and Excel), video in mp4-format, audio, html/web material.

Can I send/use video?

Yes. Video in mp4-format can be sent/used with Mobile View.

Where do I buy PLAYipp?

PLAYipp is sold through a variety of resellers and distributors around Sweden and Europe. Contact us and we will put you in touch with a supplier. Do you have an agreement with one supplier, the supplier can sell PLAYipp directly to you.

Is there any license fee for PLAYipp?

Both Mobile View and PLAYipp’s information solutions for digital signage are license-based. For Mobile View, a license is purchased for a specific period of time per app user (the recipient), while there is a monthly license fee per media player for digital signage.

What do I need to get started with PLAYipp?

For digital signage you only need a screen + a PLAYipp media player. If you already have a screen, then PLAYipp can be used on your existing screen.

For Mobile View you need a license per app user (the recipient).

How do I update the information on my screen?

All publishing is done through PLAYipp Manager. You log in from any computer with an Internet connection and select if you want to upload a file (such as video, image or document) or if you want to create a quick message based on your existing templates.

What different types of media/material can I use?

PLAYipp supports all major file formats, so you can work with the formats you prefer.

You can, for example, publish:
Text + images
Video + audio
Html/web content
Documents (PowerPoint, PDF, Excel, etc.)

How do I connect a media player to my screen?

Can I display an RSS feed?

Yes. PLAYipp can display automatic feeds through both RSS and API’s. You can, for example, display the latest posts from your social media channels, upcoming departures by public transportation, breaking news from the newspapers or visualize KPI’s and other business data from your internal programs and management tools.

Can I use audio?

Yes. The media players PLAYport MAX, PLAYport HD and PLAYbox can all handle audio.

What languages are PLAYipp in?

PLAYipp can be used worldwide. Currently PLAYipp Manager is translated to English, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian and Finnish. But PLAYipp is under constant development and additional languages will be added.

Do I need to install any software on my computer in order to use PLAYipp?

No. PLAYipp Manager is a cloud-based service, that does not require any installation or an own server. It is possible to use an own server if you should you wish so.

How many people can update the information on the screen?

That is entirely up to you. You get a free amount of user accounts to PLAYipp Manager. You can create as many accounts as you need and also set individual permissions regarding who that should be allowed to update what.
